Ecosoft’s 10'' polyphosphate crystal filter contains a mixture of polymeric metaphosphate compounds, the main one being hexametaphosphate (a hexamer of phosphate) which is why they are often referred to as hexametaphosphate crystal filters.

As water passes through the filter, the crystals slowly dissolve into it, imparting new properties to the water. Polyphosphate crystals act as dispersants in water and provide protection against the formation of calcium and magnesium deposits (hardness), corrosion, and problems related to the presence of iron. More specifically, the ions responsible for hardness (calcium and magnesium) remain separate (they do not aggregate), and their precipitation is no longer possible. This prevents well-known problems associated with water hardness (scale buildup in pipes, resistance in washing machines, etc.). In addition, a protective film is formed on metal surfaces, shielding them from acidity/alkalinity, hardness, chlorine ions, and other factors that contribute to the corrosion of water systems.
